About
Eileen (she/him) is an AEA actor, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
She grew up playing the piano, watching illegally downloaded TV shows on the family computer, and spending all her free time in her room reading books. Some favs from this time period: Pirates of the Caribbean, the Eragon books, Lady Gaga.
She went to the University of Kentucky for political science and psychology. She started playing original music at a weekly open mic where she met friends and future band mates, spending many afternoons and evenings playing music, having deep conversations, and dreaming. Around that time, Eileen decided to release her first EPs, One Of You and Many The Miles.
Eileen studied abroad in England her junior year. She skipped many classes and traveled to many countries, collecting postcards and memories and audaciously trusting strangers. She became a regular performer at the open mic at The Ferret, a local pub, and started hosting open mic nights there herself. That year, she also joined the school's drama club. At the encouragement and support of other early-20-year-olds who knew nothing about the world, she decided to pursue her childhood dream of being an actoeur.
After graduation, Eileen released her third EP, A Matter of Time, and was cast in several productions that took her to North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, Chicago, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, and more. And again with peer pressure and the promise of a good time, Eileen decided to move to Chicago.
Eileen made the big move in January 2020 and the world quickly shut down. Stuck inside, she decided to produce her full length album that would become Small Love. Working alongside friends and old colleagues, she put together the collection of songs to be released in the fall.
Since the end of quarantines, Eileen has been working professionally as an actor in theatres across the country. She was recently seen in the US premiere of The Lord Of The Rings - A Musical Tale at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and the world premiere of The Twelfth Night Show at Weston Theatre Company. She specializes in actor-musician projects and plays multiple instruments, preferring folk-rock to traditional musical theatre.
Eileen has also performed as a musician at many local Chicago events and shows. Click on the tour button above to check for upcoming performances!
Eileen is passionate about Asian representation in the media and in musical spaces. She strives to be visible and loud in the spaces where her voice would typically go unnoticed. She believes that music and expression is universal for everyone, regardless of what they look like, where they come from, or what other people expect them to be.
